Varicose and Spider Vein Treatment Options
Minimally Invasive Treatment
Large and bulging varicose veins are treated with with Clarivein. Clarivein is a newer minimally invasive treatment option that uses a combination of mechancial "irritation" and sclerosing solution to seal the vein off permanently. The advantage of this type of procedure, termed MOCA - mechanical obstruction and chemical ablation - include no pain, no large cuts or stitches and a permanent closure of the treated vein.
We often treat medium sized veins by Microphlebectomy. While smaller veins, also called Spider veins, are treated with Sclerotherapy.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
We treat DVT aggressively, to avoid "Post Thrombotic Syndrome", especially in younger patients. Generally, this condition is treated with Intravenous Anticoagulation and Thrombolysis; along with Oral Anticoagulants for a number of months.
Arterio Venous Fistula
AV malformation is either congenital or is created surgically for treatment of kidney failures requiring dialysis. Treatment of this condition is complex, requiring multiple diagnostic tests, followed by complex surgical procedures.
Traditionally, treatment of every patient starts with this method. The patients are advised about the advantages of Leg Elevation and use of Compression Stockings.
